● Cobblepot to Run for Mayor!: With the tragic loss of John and Mary Grayson, there was [prior] to the incident some great news; that being the announcement from Oswald Cobblepot that he would definitely be running for Mayor of Gotham City. The exciting news is like a breath of fresh air to the citizens of Gotham as one of their own- a Gothamite of The First Families will look to take the city back to heights before things went wrong. Mayor Matthews has yet to respond to Cobblepot's announcement, but one should expect some kind of retort soon!
● Another 'Cold' Heist: With the heists recently, the Gazette has named the culprit "Freeze" as his expertise with cryogenics is apparent. GCPD is scrambling to find any leads to who is responsible for said crimes, but are coming up empty handed. Commissioner Gordon is said to be baffled by what is going on and growing frustrated due to the lack of any advancements in the case being made. With the crime in Gotham spiking recently, this 'Freeze' individual is successfully leaving GCPD clueless- to the point where a GCPD source leaked information that Gordon brought in a specialist from another city to attempt to get things back on track.
● Harvey Dent is Alive!: Not only did Oswald Cobblepot bring his Mayor aspirations to light but he also left the crowd absolutely speechless when he announced that the formally gone, Harvey Dent, a man pronounced dead seven years ago, was being tended to by a private medical staff paid for by Oswald Cobblepot. Fearing Dent's safety, Cobblepot kept the news quiet due to criminals across Gotham knowing they would have an open shot at the incapacitated ex-District Attorney. Dent stepped back into the light with all cylinders firing and put those on notice that he was back and he would help- with Oswald Cobblepot- to put the city back on the map!
● Attempt on Cobblepot's Life: As tragic as the accident with The Graysons was, the night was almost sabotaged from the start as during Cobblepot and Dent's addressing of the audience, a masked- hooded vigilante attacked Mister Cobblepot and Dent, hitting Dent in the gut and proceeding to slam a weapon near Cobblepot's head- many said that if he wanted to, he could of took the man's life on the spot. Fleeing from GCPD and Festival Officials, Cobblepot said that it was situations like that- that brought him home to save the city.
● City Wide Blackout Damages: A few nights ago Gotham City was struck with a bad blackout that was speculated due to The Joker wrecking the city's power-grid, but Gotham Electrical confirmed [later as did The Joker] that it was more due to a storm that rolled in and knocked the grid offline. Multiple generators were destroyed in the process, costing the city upwards to $5 million and some change to repair. Gotham Electric apologized to the city and guaranteed that all paying customers would have services restored, and credit to their bills would be made. They asked to either call 1-800-CUT-LINES to file a report, or visit gothamcityblackout.com and file it there.
● Alice in Wonderland Opening Soon: A truly exciting time in Gotham City Theater as never in it's century old history did it have a star of Basil Karlo's presence! Karlo, known for his terrifying performance in "The Terror" left the lights and fame of Hollywood to return to Gotham to help the next generation of performers! Also starring in the performance will be Jervis Tetch- according to the many on the set, a "deeply committed" method actor. Rebecca Beckisali will be playing Alice in a performance that will begin soon!
● Cat Burglar Strikes Again: More and more reports are being filed with GCPD regarding a very successful and elusive cat burglar. Not only did a few Gotham jewelry stores get hit, tolling damages upwards to $34 million in diamonds, gold, and platinum- but also, works of art have come up missing as well. Much like with the 'Freeze' heists, GCPD has no leads, one has to think that the chances of the two crimes being related must be looked into.
● Hospital Opening Soon: Due to a flu epidemic ripping through the city, the current Gotham General is understaffed but overpopulated.. but that won't be the case for long. The Elliot Family Memorial Hospital is nearing total completion, all that's needed is confirmation from owner- Dr. Thomas Elliot. Dr. Elliot, a world renowned surgeon is also the owner of the Gotham Gazette, so we want to thak you Mister Elliot for all you've done for the city!
● Old Homes Get Face-Lifts: Strangely enough, multiple old estates are being worked on. Everything from the abandoned Crowne Estate on the upper east side of Gotham has seen activity in terms of restoration. The home is/was owned by one of Gotham's First Families.. The Crownes who moved away from the city. Someone has control of the property- same is said for The Kane's as renovations are currently underway. As far as the Gazette goes, neither a Crowne or Kane has been seen in Gotham for quite some time. Construction over at Wayne Manor is also happening as we speak, when reached for comment- sole heir Alfred Pennyworth said, "just upkeeping, nothing too special."
● Mysterious 'Streak' Reported: Several eye-witnesses reported to The Gazette that a streak, very much like the one [now known] as The Flash from Central City has been seen in Gotham. Unlike The Flash however, the 'streak' is actually red and not yellow- the last time a red streak was seen blazing through the city was who we've come to learn as an opponent for The Flash. Construction is said to be in it's planning stages regarding a LexCorp tower in Gotham.
● Vicki Vale: "Redface is a Hero!": Our own Vicki Vale has gone on record with the controversial remark that the vigilante "Redface," a man who has killed several criminals over the course of the last few weeks is a 'hero.' Vale's assertion of 'Redface's' heroism rubs people the wrong way due to his openness to do GCPD's job for them, but to also act as the court system as judge, jury and executioner without giving the criminals a fair trial. Vale has come under fire regarding her comments on Oswald Cobblepot in the past, this controversial stance is nothing different!
● Bat-Woman on the Loose?: Who said Gotham can be a haven to only The BATMAN? An unknown criminal was attacked by a woman donning a 'Bat-Woman' disguise, the man was roughed up as a homeless individual named George Parkerpeterson commented. More and more vigilantes seem to be popping up as the third year anniversary of the great sacrifice of The Bat nears. Despite none being able to reach the level of heroism that The Bat will- if they're putting criminals down and NOT murdering them like 'Redface' they're welcomed in the city!
