Jervis has just landed THE role of a lifetime, as the scene opens up with him in his middle-class apartment in Gotham. He is standing in front of a mirror in his living room with a top hat upon his head.
Jervis Tetch, "There is a place. Like no place on Earth. A land full of wonder, mystery, and danger! Some say to survive it: You need to be as mad as a hatter."
The smile that Tetch currently had upon his face quickly fades as I look of complete horror replaces it.
Jervis Tetch, "no, No, NO!, THAT WILL NOT DO"
A young girl, around the age of 12 walks into the room, ever so timid, and approaches Jervis, much like a young child would approach a rabid dog. They want to pet it, but they know something is off.
Young Girl, "I thought it was perfect"
Fixing the hat upon his head, so it was perfectly tilted. Jervis turns around and without hesitation slaps the young girl across the face, sending her against the wall and falling down to the ground.
The young girl begins to weep uncontrollably
Jervis Tetch, There, There, Alice, don't cry. There is no room for tears in Wonderland. This is a happy place, you just have to be a little more aware of the dangers that lurk in the nook and cranny's of this mad land! understood?"
Alice as she is now known continues to cry as she holds her face.
Jervis Tetch, "I SAID UNDERSTOOD?"
Alice nods, terrified of the man that burrows down on her.
Jervis Tetch, "Good, that's my Alice....Well then excuse me, Alice, I am late, one could say for a very important date."
Tetch grabs his trench coat and puts it on as he heads toward the door.
Jervis Tetch, "OH JERVIS!, You crack me up sometimes, that wit of yours is unmatched."
Jervis opens the door of his apartment and opens the door and waves someone, unseen by the naked eye through.
Jervis Tetch, "It just an honor to FINALLY have a role of substance. This is what being a true thespian is all about. So I insist, after you"
Looking back at Alice, Jervis tips his hat.
Jervis Tetch, "Later my dear, maybe later tonight we can have some tea. (chuckles) Oh what am I kidding, of course, we will"
Tetch slams the apartment door shut and can be heard skipping down the hallway, whistling "I'm Late"
As we come to a close, Alice can be seen burrowing her head in her lap

Later on that day Jervis arrives on the set of Alice and Wonderland, and he is on cloud nine, and why wouldn't he be, this was a role he was destined to play.
“Top of the morning to ya”, Jervis said, as he tips his hat at a stagehand walking past him.
Arriving in front of his dressing room, he is greeted by Clay Thomas who is the assistant of the great, well once great, Basil Karlo.
“Oh Clay my dear boy, what a pleasant surprise. Please come in and join me for some tea”
“I am actually not in the mood right now, Basil has been chewing my ass about getting you two together for a run through on this script and...”
“Basil Karlo!?, How delightful, I have sent that charming fossil, several invites for tea time and he has turned down every one of them”
“Basil is not the type of man that has time for tea time”
“Nonsense, nonsense, everyone has time for tea time. Just ask my darling Alice, she loves tea time,”, Jervis Tetch gasps with delight and claps his hands together.
“How about a date?”
“This is important”
“Yes very much so, very important. Come in, I insist”
Jervis opens the door of his dressing room, and Clay Thomas follows him inside. The dressing room was filled with various top hats of color and size on the walls and in the center of the dressing room was a table set for three.
“Sit, Sit”
Clay Thomas takes a seat at the chair nearest him, as Jervis Tetch takes two coffee mugs off the table and begins filling them with tea as he speaks.
“So why bring a charming young boy like you hear, when Basil could be here himself enjoying this wonderful date?”
“He believes you are beneath him”
Jervis looks over at Clay.
“Is that....”
Jervis does not look to pleased, in fact, the look on his face is that you just insulted his mother or murdered his cat, and Clay quickly takes notice.
“Not that you should pay any mind to that, he is just a bitter old man”, nervous laugh
“HOW DARE YOU?”
“Excuse me?”
“HOW DARE YOU, INSULT OUR GUEST LIKE THAT!”
“I would not exactly call....”
“OUT, GET OUT NOW!”
“But the script”
“OUT!”
Clay panics and quickly gets out of the seat and runs out of the room.
“You will have to excuse Clay, it seems he does not have any manners. Tea?”
Jervis sets a glass of tea down by where Clay was just sitting and the back of the chair has the word “Alice” engraved in it. Sitting down across from the chair, Jervis pours himself a glass and raises it, in a toast fashion.
“This will be our masterpiece”
A stagehand knocks on the door.
“Please, come in!”
A young man stands by the door, very nervous to go in.
“Mr. Tetch, I was just supposed to inform you that we have a local Gotham School district here, getting a tour of how a production runs. And I was sent to ask you if you would be willing to maybe give up a second of your time to let a kid or to come in and ask you questions if they want to.”
“Of course, how long do I have to prepare, I don't know if I have enough cups!”
“Actually, I have your first visitor now”
“Splendid”

"Twenty-five years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination..."Barbara Gordon felt the tap on her shoulder and removed her headphones. Her teacher, Mr Baker, was standing over her with his frown firmly burrowed onto his forehead. "For those of us who were not listening, I shall repeat myself yet again."There was a general groan from all of Barbara's classmates around her. Barbara sheepishly stopped the music playing and stuffed the headphones into her pocket. "I have set this field trip up today for YOUR benefit, not mine. We shall be visiting the studio to see the inner workings of a production. You'll get to go behind the scenes, talk to the cast, talk to the crew and I have it on good authority that you may even get to be background extras for one scene! Isn't that exciting!?"There was a chorus of vague interest as the mini-bus pulled up outside the studios. Mr Baker launched himself out of the doors with his clipboard. Kids started filing out and he was checking off their names. There were only 20 of them and they were all very aware that this trip was for Mr Baker's benefit, not theirs. He had always wanted to be an actor and the position of film studies teacher had never truly suited him. Always the bride's maid and all that... Barbara stepped off the bus last and with a flourish of his pen, Mr Baker marked her name off the list. He then led the charge into the studio and the kids slowly trudged after him. As the group walked through the building, Barbara had to admit that she was impressed. The camera equipment was top of the range and there were busy people frantically dashing around everywhere. Suddenly, Mr Baker clutched at his chest and pointed dramatically at someone walking past. In a loud stage whisper, Mr Baker spat out to them: "Don't you kids know who that is!? It is THE Basil Karlo. THE BASIL KARLO. I can't believe it. I just cannot believe it. Mary won't believe me when I say I actually met THE Basil Karlo. Go and explore kids but be back here in an hour. I have a star to meet."Mr Baker ran a hand through his dyed black comb over and scurried off after Basil Karlo. There was a young man scampering across the room that also seemed to want Basil's attention. He almost looked nervous... The kids all started to drift off in various directions. Barbara popped in her headphones and started listening to her song once more as she strolled through the busy backstage. She walked past a table that was pracically bending from the burden of the amount of snacks laden onto it. Barbara selected a cupcake and tried to nibble on it without dropping any onto her blue school uniform. "And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?"
Turning around several corners she came to a gigantic, black curtain that stretched out before her with a large hole in the centre on the ground. Barbara bent forwards and went through the hole and emerged into...Wonderland. She audibly gasped at the change of scenery from a dimly lit, dull corridor to a bright vibrant world. The jarring transition reminded her of the beginning of 'The Wizard of Oz'. She seemed to be in a field full of flowers that were in every colour imaginable. A tree stood beside her and in the leaves, she could almost see the outline of a cat. A fake river was flowing several yards away that was the bluest blue Barbara had ever seen. It was an overload to the sense that she could barely take in. Finally, her wonder was disturbed by a young man waving at her from across the river. She removed her headphones and walked over to him. "I've been sent to find one of you to bring to Mr Tetch.""I'm sorry...I'm not sure I know who that is.""He's one of the actors. Please follow me and I'll show you to his dressing room."The man scurried away rather rapidly and Barbara had to hop over the river to keep up. They left the stage, much to Barbara's disappointment, and walked through the building. They turned so many corridors that Barbara lost all sense of direction. Finally, they arrived at a rather small door. "Please wait outside and I'll see if he's ready."Barbara nodded and the man entered the room. “Mr. Tetch, I was just supposed to inform you that we have a local Gotham School district here, getting a tour of how a production runs. And I was sent to ask you if you would be willing to maybe give up a second of your time to let a kid or to come in and ask you questions if they want to.” “Of course, how long do I have to prepare, I don't know if I have enough cups!” “Actually, I have your first visitor now” “Splendid” The man looked back out of the room and gestured for Barbara to follow. Barbara felt reluctant to enter but she knew it was the only way she could make this experiance over as quickly as possible. Barbara stepped into the room and in an instant, the man had left and shut the door. Barbara was alone with Mr Tetch, a fact she wasn't best pleased about.

Simply stunning was the young lady in front of him. Everything from her red hair to her innocent features just sent him in a land of awe. It was almost like she came jumped right out of the pages, to grace him with her presence.
Jervis quickly stands to his feet and pulls out the chair that said “Alice”
“Please sit, I insist, you join me for some tea and muffins.”
Jumping up and down and clapping his hands together, Jervis grins as he grabs as he sits down, eager awaiting the young women to do the same. Which she does.
An awkward silence feels the air, as Jervis just stares into her eyes. The young girl must of took notice because she quickly clears her throat and breaks the silence.
“I must say, the sets out there are amazing. It must be crazy awesome to perform on them”
“A set is only as real as the person living it. Life is a set really, your stage, it is up to you to make it real”
“I guess”
Tetch, lets out a very dramatic gasp, “You guess?”, shakes a finger, “There is no guessing in this world child, only action. OWN it or it will own you”
Nodding, she extends her hand, “The name is Barbara Gordon by the way, and your something Tetch?”, giggles, “Sorry am not that familiar with your work”
“Barbara Gordon?”, shakes head, “Nope I don't like it”
“It is what I was born with”
“Were born with a lot of things, two livers, for instance, but we can survive with one, none even”
“Am sorry but you have not told me your name yet”
“Jervis Tetch, but back to your name. You remind me more of an Alice. My Alice would love you actually, she has always wanted a friend.”
“Is that your daughter”
“Again with the labels, it is so exhausting, Barbara. Enjoying your tea?”

Barbara couldn't remember a time she had felt more uncomfortable. “Alice! Please sit, I insist, you join me for some tea and muffins.”Alice? Barbara remained silent, fearing how awkward it would be if she corrected him. The man leapt up, clapped his hands then sat, gesturing for her to do the same. Barbara glanced back at the door she had walked in from. With a sigh, Barbara sat opposite the man. Silence. The silence went on for what seemed like hours. Barbara coughed loudly. “I must say, the sets out there are amazing. It must be crazy awesome to perform on them”Crazy awesome? When was the last time she'd said that? Possibly over four years ago. It was clear that she was feeling awkward as she was displaying some serious word vomit. “A set is only as real as the person living it. Life is a set really, your stage, it is up to you to make it real” “I guess” The man gasped and his eyebrows arched all the way up his forehead. Barbara half jumped in her seat. “You guess? There is no guessing in this world child, only action. OWN it or it will own you” The man was talking zero sense. Barbara looked over his shoulder, half expecting to see the tv cameras. Taking a deep breath, Barbara attempted to maintain a conversation with the man. “The name is Barbara Gordon by the way, and your something Tetch? Sorry am not that familiar with your work” “Barbara Gordon? Nope I don't like it” “It is what I was born with” “Were born with a lot of things, two livers, for instance, but we can survive with one, none even” TWO LIVERS? Barbara was now officially creeped out. Scrambling in an attempt to change the subject, Barbara tried to move the conversation forwards. “I'm sorry but you have not told me your name yet” “Jervis Tetch, but back to your name. You remind me more of an Alice. My Alice would love you actually, she has always wanted a friend.” “Is that your daughter” “Again with the labels, it is so exhausting, Barbara. Enjoying your tea?”"Erm...you haven't actually given me any tea...but I'll have some...if you have any..."Barbara glanced across the room, seeing a kettle, some tea bags and many cups. Jumping to her feet, Barbara crossed the room. "You stay where you are. I'll get it." Barbara selected two tea bags and out each into a cup. She then took the kettle to a small sink and started to fill it with water. "So...how's the film going? What's it like working on an actual film set? What role are you playing?"
