SOCIAL INFORMATION:
- Current Social Status: Hero/Civilian
- Current/Known Associates: Jim Gordon
- Current/Known Adversaries: None
ABILITIES:
Due to the events that happened to herself, her brother and her mother at the hands of Two-Face, Barbara has trained in self defense for the past 11 years whilst living in Cleveland. She has always been a skilled gymnast and tries to use those abilities in her fighting style. Barbara is a very bright young woman who is constantly reading and broadening her knowledge base. Barbara is very good with machines and has found a natural ability with technology which she has yet to fully develop and harness. She has also been gifted with an eidetic memory.
STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES:
Barbara is a skilled young woman who has dedicated the past 11 years of her life to fight crime with the likes of her father and Batman. She is extremely determined and devoted to her cause. With her eidetic memory and gymnastic skills, Barbara is a force to be reckoned with, especially when she is underestimated.
Her greatest weakness is the fact that she is unexperianced when it comes to actually fighting crime. Although she has been training and preparing herself, it's very different to actually face down a thug with a gun. She has also suffered psychologically from the confrontation with Two-Face. She has insomnia and occasional panic attacks.
BACKGROUND:
Barbara Gordon was born in Gotham City to Jim Gordon and Barbara Gordon senior. She spent the first five years of her life in that City. For the most part, she was relatively happy. She got on with her brother and adored her parents who in turn adored her. She started attending a good school and made several friends. She would go to ballet class, band practice and was a good swimmer. Considering it was Gotham City, Barbara had a good childhood. Then one night, her mother hurried both Barbara and her brother into a car and they drove off into the night. Barbara was only five and didn't understand where they were going. They came to what seemed to be a construction site and were led into a half built building. It was there that a terrifying man with only half a face, threatened them all with a gun. When Barbara's father arrived, the half faced man continued to wave the gun around. It was then, when Barbara didn't think she could get any more scared, that Batman arrived. He saved their family and ran off into the night. That moment was seared onto Barbara's heart like nothing else. She would always remember the terror that filled her and then the relief when Batman took the half faced man off the edge of the building.
Several months past but life was different now. Gotham City felt different. Her parents became less and less friendly with each other until they barely spoke. Her father spent most nights sleeping at a motel. Eventually, Barbara's mother took Barbara and her brother and left Gotham. They moved to Cleveland to start a new life. Barbara was devastated. She adored her father and hated the idea of not seeing him. Jim visited as often as he could over the next few years but it was hard for him to find the time and his visits became less and less frequent.
Over the next eight years, Barbara trained tirelessly in gymnastics and self-defence. The ideals of Batman had stuck with her and she was desperate to uphold them and fight her own war against crime. She was mentally scarred by the events with Two-Face and had chronic insomnia. She would also suffer from panic attacks. When Barbara was 13, a criminal named Bane took control of Gotham City by essentially locking it down and imprisoning it's occupants (including her father). Barbara begged her mother to let her go to Gotham and help but her mother furiously denied her. Barbara had to watch the news every day for months to see if it would report her father's death. The news never came and eventually, Bane was defeated. However, this came with a price. The price was the death of Batman. Two more years past and throughout them, Barbara continued her training yet with increased fervour. Eventually, Barbara wore her mother down and some weeks after her 15th birthday, she was allowed to move back to Gotham City to live with her father whilst her mother and brother remained in Cleveland. A year has past making Barbara 16 and making it three years since Batman's death. She attends the prestigious Gotham Academy and works weekends at Gotham Library. She still maintains her training in gymnastics and self-defence which her father supports. Barbara is preparing to finally take to the streets as Gotham is currently without a defender.
