They had twelve minutes. Shiva watched as the SUVs containing her men separated and drove towards their designated positions. Failure was not an option. They were on a strict timetable now that Phase One had ended. There were three people that would need to die in the next few days. The first being the Prime Minister of Japan. There was a conference being held in Chico, California between the Prime Minister of Japan and the American Government. It had been intended for the Vice President to have met with the Prime Minister but the Vice President had been killed three days ago in Budapest. His death had been the end of Phase One. The Prime Minister was instead meeting with General Wade Eiling, a high ranking officer in the American military. Over the past three years, Shiva had been putting her own people into places of power in as many governments around the world as she could, especially the American government. Certain people were going to have to die to ensure that, when the the time was right, she had her pieces in place. The Vice President was harmless but in her way. He had to be killed and Shiva had sent some of her worst to do it. They had of course all either died or had been captured by the Hungarian authorities. They had all then taken their cyanide pills like loyal soldiers. None of them had breathed a word of Shiva or her plans. They had been forgotten as simple minded terrorists.
The Prime Minister of Japan was the next on her list. She had someone loyal to her ready to take his place. All it would take was one death then Japan would be in her pocket with others soon to follow. Shiva checked her watch. They had seven minutes. The four green lights flashed on each corner of her watch. Her men were in position. A car pulled around and drove down the street. It stopped outside Kendall Hall and several of the Prime Minister's security team emerged to survey the area. Shiva knew that she was safe sitting in the building opposite. She wasn't even looking out the window. A tiny camera on the window sill looked out and relayed an image to the laptop Shiva was looking at. She checked her watch. Four more minutes.
The service men, happy with the area, knocked the side of the door. The Prime minister emerged. There were no crowds or cheers to meet him. It was a quiet place and was an odd location to pick for their meetings yet the CIA had thought it necessary given the death of the Vice President. The Prime Minister was incredibly short with grey thin hair and huge spectacles. General Eiling and his assistant stepped out of the Hall and greeted the Prime Minister. As they stood talking to each other, Shiva checked her watch. There was 20 seconds remaining. It was time.
At that moment, a black SUV hurtled round the corner and wound down it's side windows. Two men leaned out with assault rifles. The service men sprang into action and drew their handguns. General Eiling, his assistant and the Prime Minister fell down behind the car as the guns open fired from either side. Two more SUVs arrived and parked in a way that they formed a triangle shape around the Japanese car. They were all now shooting at the car and the service men were dropping like flies. The fourth and final SUV arrived but hung back. Shiva slide her gloved finger across the laptop screen and it switched off. Shiva walked out the room and down a spiral staircase before emerging outside. It only took a further two minutes before all the servicemen were dead. She had only lost three men. Shiva nodded to the driver of the SUV that had stayed back. He slammed his fist hard on the car horn.
At that moment, General Eiling's assistant drew a knife from their inner jacket pocket. They then drove the blade several times into the Prime Minister's chest. General Eiling yelled out in shock. He drew his own handgun and shot the assistant in the face. The car horn sounded again with a nod from Shiva. All the SUV's drove away including the fourth once Shiva had climbed into it. General Eiling was left unharmed, standing around many dead bodies.
Shiva couldn't help but grin as they drove. Phase two was underway. The first of their three targets was dead. Next would be the death of a buisnessman and third would be the death of Gotham's very own police Commissioner. Shiva drew a small remote from her belt and flicked the switch. The three SUVs that were following started to swerve. Seconds later, all three detonated in huge fireballs. Shiva put the remote away, sat back and strapped in her seatbelt; shutting her eyes to get a nap. They were in for a long journey and she wanted some rest before changing the world.
