After the tumultuous day for GCPD, sending Detective Mike Akins home for the rest of the week was a no-brainer. Two leaks later from an apparent hacking of his smartphone, confidential reports regarding an open investigation on Roman Sionis and his associates went public. GCPD's finest had trouble factoring the hack, some suspicious were raised that Akins released the pictures himself but to those who knew him --- like Commissioner Jim Gordon for instance, that wasn't a possibility.. Akins was jaded, yes --- but he was loyal, there was no way he would give Sionis any reason to be even sneakier than he was. Sitting at home at the moment in his studio apartment, Akins had the leg portion of his recliner extended as he had his body stretched out. With a bottle of Corona pressed against the center of his forehead, Akins stared up to the ceiling as he was completely miserable.
The situation was troubling because Akins never had those photos on his phone, he was smarter than that. He wasn't exactly the most technological savvy person in the world but he knew how smartphones could be tampered with as easily as a PC or laptop. Plus, why would he take pictures of something HE created? It wasn't as if he was inept at his job, Gordon went on record on several occasions applauding Mike's approach to the job --- things didn't change that quick.
Swiping the bottle off of his head, he destroyed what remained and tossed the bottle to the side --- causing it to bounce off of the kitchen tile and roll towards the 'fridge. The details of Akins life were quite secretive, originally from Gateway City, he spent roughly five years as part of the police department there before being transferred to Gotham --- across the United States. Some dared to ask Akins why he came to Gotham, they never got an answer but rumors said it was because of a botched kidnapping that left the hostage dead --- a 4 year old hostage. Nothing has ever been proved as records work against the rumor, but usually where there's smoke... there's fire. Sitting up in his recliner, he reached blindly towards the end table to the right of the recliner, knocking over a standup lamp in the process. As it crashed to the ground, he moved his hand --- looking for the remote and managed to grab it after knocking more items off of the table. Pointing it towards his mounted television, he turned it on as the picture flicked to life --- of course, a report over the on-going situation in GCPD.
Flipping through the channels, he stopped at another news broadcast. This time a pretty, middle-aged woman with hazel colored eyes and brown hair spoke with a smile.
Deciding to turn the television off, he flipped the remote and just sat back in the silence his home provided. Last week, after working a year and a half case on Sionis' activities, he decided to bring forth some evidence that proved Roman Sionis wasn't the boss, rather --- he was the underboss. There was a much greater threat on the East Coast --- but he was told to kill the pipedream as there's no way someone could exist on the East Coast with so much power that no-one knew about. Mike was certain that the pics that was "leaked" was a direct retaliation to his new findings -- he was sure someone within GCPD worked for or with Sionis and whoever Sionis was working for and was attempting to get him to lose his job. His phone begun to buzz, all as he reached for it --- but it was part of the items that was cleared off of his table during his remote adventure. Groaning as he pulled himself forward, he doubled over the armrest and grabbed the phone and tapped the touchscreen's "Call" button...
Akins, "This is a whole different class of criminal from what I'm used to."

Akins, "Man this sucks."

"... sources at The Gotham Herald say Detective Michael Akins, a decade plus veteran of Gotham City Police Department is responsible for the biggest internal-"
Akins, "Next."
Flipping through the channels, he stopped at another news broadcast. This time a pretty, middle-aged woman with hazel colored eyes and brown hair spoke with a smile.
Akins, "Oh Katy.. Katy.. Katy, you know how to make my day! Definitely a sight for sore eyes!"
Katy Prescott, "... yes, the cat show at Gotham Amphitheater will be a hit! But more on the headline of the evening, the dysfunction within GCPD. The public wants Commissioner Jim Gordon's head due to the recent breach of confidentiality as yes, it was Gotham's worst kept secret that Roman Sionis was involved in the criminal underworld. Giorgio De Soto, an organized crime historian was unable to join us this evening but did say that Sionis is the equivalent of a modern day Charles "Lucky" Luciano had Luciano decided to consolidate all power instead of forming what we now know as The Five Families."
Akins, "He's a punk, man. Sionis ain't the top dog --- I'll expose him on that. He's working FOR somebody, but of course... nobody wants to listen."
