●● MAIN HEADLINE : CAN GOTHAM BE SAVED? ●●
Is it too late for our dear city to be saved? With Gotham City Police Department losing a hold on the city by the day, all hope seems to be lost. The only bright side to the situation is that the fine citizens of Gotham will finally be able to elect a Mayor since the passing of [deceased] Mayor Anthony Garcia in 2012. Numerous names have come up as replacements for current Mayor Diedra Matthews, but none is as controversial as Oswald Cobblepot -- who's tenure in Bludhaven is up at the end of June. Is it divine intervention that Gotham's Mayor race kicks off in July, a day after Cobblepot is to give up his position of power? Many feel that in order to take Gotham to the heights it was soaring at prior to the 2012 terrorist attack, no-one besides a Gotham Original could doe the job. Oswald Cobblepot is a fourth generation Gothamite who hails from the prestigious "First Families of Gotham" and has the support of it's citizens. A lot of controversy comes up when Cobblepot's name is mentioned though, rumors swirl of Cobblepot dabbling in organized crime but there has been no proof to support this claim and Oswald himself had gone on record denying the slanderous charges as nothing more than "trash."
● Dr. Arkham's New Promise: With the failing numbers of reform in terms of Gotham's criminals, Dr. Jeremiah Arkham has pledged that he will single-handedly change that. Dr. Arkham has all the tools needed to turn things around, and the newly renovated "Arkham Asylum" will prove to come in handy. Due to Blackgate Prison's overwhelming numbers in recent days, Arkham Asylum will home strictly the worst of the worst.
● Sionis' Case Thtown Out: A RICO case against Roman Sionis, CEO of Sionis Industries was thrown out today due to a hung-trial. The charges come from a 3 year GCPD Investigation, one that had Sionis dead-to-rights [or so they thought] but District Attorney Leonardo Corlazzi was unable to close the case which may speak volumes when the Mayor race comes up and the Mayor is able to extend or appoint a new DA for Gotham City. Sionis released the following statement
"Everyone is quick to judge me (sic) 'cause of who they think I am, but I'm just another guy who wants to run his business and morn the loss of the love of my life."
Sionis is said to be the 'boss of bosses' in Gotham City -- the head of 'The Faceless Family,' Gotham's organized crime family that is responsible according to GCPD databases, 35.7% of crimes committed within Gotham City. A staggering amount that does not look to be curbed any time soon with this recent development.
● Gray Knight Festival Dated: Since the untimely passing of Harvey Dent- Gotham's White Knight and The Batman- Gotham's Dark Knight, the city has never been the same, but that doesn't change the fact that Gotham will forever memorialize the contributions each man made to preserving the city. The second annual "Gray Knight Festival" features games, prizes, a carnival and even live performances, all as proceeds go directly to "SAVE-OUR-CITY" a Gotham City charity focusing on both helping the less fortunate and supplying aid to the city's orphans. The festival will be kicked off next week, July 4th and will run throughout the week. More details available at grayknightfestival.com
● "Redface" Strikes Again!: Since The Batman's selfless sacrifice to save Gotham, reported sightings of a "Redface" vigilante striking different criminals have been jumping. Unlike The Batman though, this vigilante does not leave much to be desired with GCPD as The Batman would leave criminals unconscious, "Redface" murders them. Who is "Redface" and what does he want?
● With Crime Rate Jump, is Gordon's Tenure Finished?: With Gotham's crime rate spiking a ridiculous 21% from last year, rumblings of current GCPD Commissioner- James "Jim" Gordon being fired is beginning to get louder and louder. Gordon seems overwhelmed with the job at hand, but how much of it is really his fault? Since The Batman perished, criminals have nothing to fear, especially when GCPD is suffering from such a high amount of corruption from within. Gordon is a good man, but maybe.. the job has moved beyond him at his point.
● Gotham Knight's Stadium Finally Complete: In a bitter-sweet moment, the Gotham Knight's football stadium has finally been rebuilt and will be open on kickoff date in September. The stadium, now known as "Gotham City Memorial Field" will display a plaque upon entering with the names of all the victims that lost their lives during the terrorist attack in 2012. Wayne Enterprises funded the rebuilding process.
● "Joker" on the Loose?: Arkham Asylum's renovations came in light of the daring escape of the criminal known as "The Joker." The psychotic white faced clown was responsible for the demolition of Gotham General Hospital seven years ago. Dr. Jeremiah Arkham was held responsible for the escape and has been told he will be put on trial as an accessory for any/all crimes and damage done on behalf of The Joker's insanity. He was reported as being seen near the Gotham Docks, call GCPD immediately if seen, he is armed and extremely dangerous.
