Barbara Gordon and Roy Harper - Red Arrow like this
Post by Ricky Grayson on Aug 1, 2015 1:22:50 GMT
Being left in his thoughts for a moment, he hadn't touched his food as the anger that struck when he found out he was being kept from the funeral negated it. He had tried hard to mask the rage, but he knew he let it slip with some of what he said but Ricky didn't feel like it diminished who he was in the eyes of his new found friend- Barbara Gordon. With the money left on the table, he reached down and took a bite from he burger that had gone cold through the course of the two person conversation, the soggy patty and hard cheese was going to do more damage to his stomach than he'd like- especially with what was needed of him tomorrow. Taking his time though, he did manage to munch on the Garlic Fries, those had turned out very well- and despite the ice melting within the pitcher of Coke- it still had some carbonation.. that familiar sting that let him know he was still alive and not some puppet that moved on behalf of strings being pulled. After finishing the fries and taking a monster bite out of the burger to have something put in his stomach- he ditched the straw and took a few crazy gulps from the pitcher, successfully killing more than half of the beverage. Keeping a toll in his head, he knew how much he owed for the meal and he'd get Barbata her cash back as soon as he was able to legally go to Haly's Circus and pick up his items such as his bike, clothes and collectables. Standing up, Nelson had noticed the two being done with the table and came over with a plastic bin in his hands-
// Nelson]: I'm sorry to hear about your parents, kid. It's never easy.. especially not like that.
Taken back by Nelson's admittance over who he was, before Ricky could try to either book it out of the diner or talk his way out of what Nelson thought he knew- maybe it was due to working in the field as long as he did and having dealt with customers from all walks of life, he waved his hand in front of his face-
// Nelson]: You don't owe me an explanation, your money is good enough. Just make sure to take care of yourself, you've got a good friend in Miss Gordon. I've known her since she was a baby, her family used to come in and eat before they split to Cleveland. Heart of gold that one- she just like her dad.
Ricky had found this out first handed when she hacked into the eMail account and read him details that he would of never found out on his own. Nodding at Nelson's words, respecting the man enough to not say anything he turned and was about to walk out of the diner- all as Nelson called out to him-
// Nelson]: And yo- kid-
Turning- Grayson gave Nelson a slight nod...
// Nelson]: If anyone comes asking.. I never saw you in my life.. except on TV when you hit those crazy tricks- otherwise, I don't know a Ricky Grayson.
The gesture was nice of Nelson, and Ricky- to pay appreciation toward that shot a thumbs up his way and moved through the door- walking out of the door. Night had set in Gotham, it was always such a drastic change when the sun set- people changed.. it was like the sun kept the criminals in check. The streets were littered with homeless and thugs, bunched in circles- plotting their next move. Heading back in the direction of the orphanage, he'd probably get into trouble and lectured for days due to 'not knowing better.' Moving past a shop that sold refurbished television sets, many of which were on sale in the window- a breaking broadcast seemed to have popped through.. pausing in his tracks.
"BREAKING NEWS- BILLIONAIRE WAYNE ENTERPRISES FORMER CEO BRUCE WAYNE.. IS.. ALIVE! HE IS ALIVE AND WELL, MORE ON THIS AND CLIPS OF HIS INTERVIEW AT EIGHT!"
Ricky had never heard met Bruce Wayne but had heard- as well as the rest of the world of how his parents were murdered in front of him when he was a child. Keeping his eyes on the television, there was another reported that spoke over the stoic face of Bruce Wayne and as Grayson tried to turn away and continue forward.. it was as if Bruce's eyes followed the boy no matter where he went. With that odd feeling continuing to follow him- he sprinted off forward and headed back towards the orphanage, some of the people that were around corners attempted to call out to him for one reason or another.. and as he approached the building, he knew he had to be sly. Instead of crashing through the front door, he snuck around the building after hopping the concrete wall and popped his head up as he saw the room was still empty- his bunk-mates were probably at dinner. Lifting the window- he jumped back into the room and gently pushed it down- heading forward... he reached into the military style duffle bag that had some of his clothes in it- all as he grabbed hold of some- Officer Barnes popped his head in-
// Officer Barnes]: GRAYSON...!
Keeping his cool- Ricky couldn't tip Barnes off on anything that had happened, rather Ricky looked in the direction as Barnes continued.
// Officer Barnes]: We've got chow- if you're not hungry, feel free to take a shower... we've got chili corn carne.
Ricky nodding- he needed to continue the mute strike charade so he didn't tip anyone off on what he knew. After Barnes walked away, Ricky gathered his clothes and headed in the direction of the shower- after that, he would call it an early night.. he needed to be up early as it was HUGE for him to be able to get to ground-zero and make himself available for his parent's funeral... There wasn't a chance in hell he'd be missing that, it didn't matter if the rapture hit... Ricky would say his good-byes to his parents.
